What Amanda is really up to on The Young and the Restless

On The Young and the Restless, Amanda Sinclair walked back into the lives of people in Genoa City with a bang — with the shocking news that she was the personal attorney of the elusive Aristotle Dumas. But now that his true identity has been revealed, what other secrets is Amanda keeping?

On The Young and the Restless, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) seems right at home at Aristotle Dumas’ estate in the French Riviera. But before she arrived along with half of Genoa City, Amanda was the only person that anyone knew who had met the mysterious billionaire in person. That all changed, of course, once he revealed himself to be Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn).

But how did Amanda and Cane become partners in this game of deceit? There’s a backstory there, we just haven’t been told it yet. While Cane claims to be back to recapture Lily’s (Christel Khalil) heart and win back the love of his life, why is Amanda so dedicated to the cause? Lily calls Amanda her friend, but clearly they aren’t as close as Amanda is to Cane.

When Amanda was in Genoa City, Lily, Devon, and Nate had plenty of questions, but Amanda would only insist that Mr. Dumas had no intentions of coming after their company. She even said that he had kept up with all of their accomplishments and respected them. But what Amanda left out would have changed everything: telling Lily the truth that Dumas was Cane.

‘I need her’

When Cane was ready to reveal himself to his guests, he told his assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), to summon Amanda, claiming that he needed her. While Amanda certainly knows her way through — and around — the maze, she is also very familiar with the estate. She seems to be more than Cane’s attorney, and her loyalty runs deeper than that of an employee.

Amanda didn’t know Cane well before he left town all those years ago, but she is speaking on his behalf nowadays. What changed? Did Cane show loyalty to her, so now she thinks she can trust him? She must be getting more out of this deal than just a paycheck. Amanda’s reputation and character meant too much to her to be involved in the type of scheming that Lily is convinced Cane is embroiled in — or is she?

This week, Cane returns to Genoa City — and meets with Holden. Will Amanda be left to navigate the waters for him in the French Riviera? She might have a mutiny on her hands when they realize he hasn’t been seen — especially since the guests haven’t been allowed to leave.
