Reality star Julie Chrisley resentenced to 7 years in prison

Chrisley Knows Best star Julie Chrisley resentenced to 7 years in bank fraud and tax evasion case

Her adult children Savannah and Chase were in the courtroom.

Former reality star Julie Chrisley cried and apologized Wednesday at her hearing in a downtown Atlanta courtroom, after she was resentenced for tax evasion and bank fraud. Still, the former star of Chrisley Knows Best was given 84 months behind bars — the same amount that she had received when she was originally sentenced in 2022.

“I would like to say I’ve had years to think about what I’ve wanted to say and I’m sorry for my actions and situations that led us to where we are today,” Chrisley told the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia before the judge ruled, per PEOPLE. “I’ve had 20 months in prison, but it has been much more leading up to the trial and I apologize for my actions that led to where we are today.”

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Chrisley’s attorney for comment.

Chrisley mentioned her children with Todd Chrisley, two of whom were in the room: daughter Savannah, 27, and son Chase, 28. The Chrisleys also share son Grayson, 18.

“I have done everything I can do to get closer to my family,” the now-brunette former TV star said. “I’ve taken tests for new skills, such as driving a forklift and serving food in proper ways … this has been the most difficult part of my life. I can’t ever repay my children for what they’ve had to go through and for that, I am so sorry.”

Both Chrisleys were convicted in June 2022 of having obtained $30 million in fraudulent loans, by inflating their net worth while seeking loans from smaller banks that did less vetting, and for having evaded taxes. While he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, she was given seven years.

In June, her sentence was vacated by a panel of three judges from the 11h U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, who ruled that it had not been determined correctly. They determined that, while Chrisley had been held responsible for the bank fraud scheme, there was insufficient evidence that she was involved the entire time.

Savannah Chrisley — who endorsed former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election — claimed outside the courthouse that her parents’ prosecution was political, according to the Associated Press. She also said Julie Chrisley’s legal team will appeal the new sentence.

Julie Chrisley has been imprisoned in Lexington, Ky., while Todd is serving time in a Pensacola, Fla. facility.
