But the events unfolding in Nice and Genoa City are beginning to overlap, as last week’s The Young and the Restless made clear when Adam and Chelsea learned that Cane is actively buying Genoa City property while everyone’s stuck in Nice. It’s not entirely clear yet just what Cane thinks he’s playing at, but he may soon tip his hand.
What’s Happening This Week On The Young & The Restless: June 30-July 4
Cane Ashby’s Inching Closer To Revealing His Plan
Although the episode synopses for The Young and the Restless may be as short as always, they pair well with the weekly preview video to provide a decent look at both the bigger and smaller stories currently unfolding. And since nobody at Cane’s estate is able to reach their personal or professional contacts in Genoa City, things are unraveling intensely.
Here are the episode synopses for this week:
What Big Storyline We’re Following This Week
Everyone’s Tired Of Waiting For Cane’s Next Move
Following the announcement that Chance Chancellor’s Connor Floyd is leaving The Young and the Restless, it seemed like he’d be going out with a bang. Chance has hardly appeared since arriving in Nice, but it appears that virtually every main character in both Nice and Genoa City will be connected to Cane Ashby’s plan by the end of the week.
It’s clear that Cane Ashby will be going to Genoa City this week to meet with Abby and Holden, and Cane’s meeting with Holden may have something to do with Holden’s recent run-in with Claire. Victor seems to be one step ahead of Cane, but Cane may also know about the current schemes against the marriage between Claire and Kyle.
Either way, Holden is clearly in an alliance with Cane, adding to Cane’s current alliances with Amanda and Phyllis. Although, given Phyllis’ past lies in The Young and the Restless, Cane probably knows that Phyllis shouldn’t be trusted. The real question is who he’s meeting from his past. According to some fan theories, it very well may be his father.
This could all lead to the reveal of Cane’s actual plan. It appears that both Lily and Devon are individually pumping Amanda for information, and her role as Cane’s lawyer means that Amanda should know more than anyone. She knows Cane is keeping something from her, but it can’t be on the legal side. That only makes it more mysterious.
How This Sets Up Next Week’s The Young & The Restless
The Genoa City And Nice Storylines Are Increasingly Intertwining

At this point, Cane Ashby’s Aristotle Dumas scheme has grown to the point that it’s even affecting the smaller storylines on The Young and the Restless. Although Victor is behind the plot that Diane is likely warning Kyle about, Audra actually seems less concerned with seducing Kyle than joining with him to sell Cane on Vibrante.
If Cane’s plans with Holden do involve Claire, then that could overlap with Victoria’s unexpected news this week as well. We already know that Cole doesn’t expect to see Claire or Victoria again after their previewed meeting in the hospital. If Cane’s plans have anything to do with Claire, he’s enacting them at an exceptionally devious time.
Although they’re currently in Nice, it’s doubtful that Billy’s promise to Sally will have anything to do with Cane at all. They’ve been the best at taking things in stride, enjoying the swimming pool and the alcohol before the drama’s complete, and they’re sent back home. At the same time, they might learn what their role is in this game.
Finally, while The Young and the Restless hasn’t addressed this plot for a few episodes now, it seems that Mariah will finally have to reveal her affair to Tessa. If so, the fallout could become the biggest story this week that finally gives us a break from the admittedly fun yet currently all-encompassing Cane drama.
