The premiere date for Grey’s Anatomy season 21 has been confirmed by ABC, revealing when the medical drama will be coming back for its next batch of episodes. With so many characters’ futures now up in the air, it’s unclear how the next season will play out. However, it will be a full season filled with dramatic moments and tension between its core professionals.
Now, Deadline has confirmed that ABC announced Grey’s Anatomy season 21 will be premiering on Thursday, September 26 at 10 p.m. This makes it the last show of the night, starting just after 9-1-1 season 8 and the series premiere of the new medical drama Doctor Odyssey. While it makes for a packed night on the network, it also means the senior show will be rounding out the lineup.
What Will Happen In Grey’s Antomy Season 21?
While it’s unclear what exactly is going to happen in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, many of the cliffhanger endings for certain characters will no doubt factor into the premiere. While Meredith and the fired doctors need their stories resolved, so too does Lucas, whose future at the hospital is unclear after the council recommended he repeat his internship year. Jo also hasn’t told Link that she’s pregnant, another key storyline that will no doubt impact them in the coming episodes.
With so much going on with the established characters, it’s unclear if the season will manage to address some elements set up in the Station 19 series finale. In the spinoff’s final episode, it was revealed Ben Warren was coming back to Grey Sloan Memorial to continue his medical training. While the last moments of the episode offer a flash-forward years ahead, season 21 of the flagship series could still bring him back. This would not only shake things up for the season, but also keep consistency with the finished show.
